Global Melody

There isn't a universal symbol for beauty and peace, so Alexandra Paliwoda created her own. This hand-forged, recycled-steel design is inspired by the beautiful shapes and sounds she's discovered while traveling the world. Like a cross between the spiritual "om" symbol and a spiraling music note, the sweet chime flutters and clinks in the breeze. Just as lovely as an indoor work of art or traditional outdoor chime, the piece makes a thoughtful gift for new homeowners, gardeners, or world-traveling loved ones. Handmade in Idaho.

“I hammered out piles of ironwork and spent countless hours getting blisters and burns, until I could make something good.”

Inspired by all things wild and free, Alexandra Paliwoda expresses her love of untamed places with her hand-forged ironwork. Born in the Rocky Mountains and raised in the backcountry of Alaska, she began working with metal in 2000, when she was certified as a farrier by Montana State University and forged horseshoes. Working with horses and in agriculture, and living a subsistence lifestyle in Alaska—including building her own cabin in the north country—she feels that the most important things in life are the experiences.
