Just like flowers need the sunlight to bloom, so too do these gorgeous garden blossoms by Canadian glass artist Stephen Kitras. With the help of the sun's rays, these 100% recycled glass floral globes can bring enchantment to your yard, patio, or garden day and night. Each elegant, hand-blown sphere conceals a light that illuminates the artist's painterly petals and splashy strokes of rich color even under a veil of darkness. Handmade in Canada.

We visited Stephen Kitras's glassblowing studio in Fergus, Ontario, and made a glass globe of our very own. Visit our blog for the inside scoop.

“Why glass? Compared to other media I've worked in, such as iron and ceramic, glass is immediate and responds right away to any design decisions that I make.”

The mantra "when surrounded by beauty, the spirit is uplifted" embodies the mission of Kitras Art Glass. Stephen Kitras began work as a glassblower in 1988, and in 1994 he formed Kitras Art Glass with his wife and partner Elke. By 2001 the company had expanded to over 40 employees and a new facility was built to accommodate the increased production demands.

Sadly, the company suffered the loss of Elke Kitras to leukemia, but the vision that she and Stephen developed for the company continues to thrive. It is Stephen's goal is to design and produce beautiful and affordable glass art objects to enhance the lives of others.

As stated earlier, purchased as gift for my sister. She loves it, found it easy to put together, and loves how it glows in her favorite purple color.

I love these globes! I haven't had any problems with the stake, it's as easy as can be to pop it into the ground and the color variations are stunning. I purchased mine as a remembrance of my mother and I'm so happy yo see it and be reminded of her every day.

This product has many uses

I used my globe in a large flower pot on my deck since I had no other space that fit. One night while enjoying looking at it I was inspired to pick it up and when I did I was amazed at what happened! The pattern and colors were thrown far and wide all over the deck and into the surrounding foliage! Beautiful! Take it another level and start to turn it and dance! The patterns and colors dance and move too! What fun! Don't miss trying this use of your globe!

Lovely lights, very flimsy stakes

I want to say I love the lights, they are just beautiful. The solar panel works well and they were a great addition to my garden (I purchased 5 in total). However, after a few months outside (I am in Texas so it is hot) the plastic stakes just didn't stand up. All 5 have snapped off and I am working with a local welder to try to add a metal stake below the solar panel. All five snapped at the same place, on the bottom segment about 2 inches above the ground. I have no animals in the garden and no kids, so it wasn't any type of physical damage that caused the problem. I did receive one replacement, which was great and much appreciated. However, I did not contact the Uncommon Goods when the other 4 snapped, as well as the replacement a bit later. There is no point in putting back the plastic stakes if they only last a few months.

I probably should have been more careful about putting it together although I have purchased two before.I would have replaced the one that broke but they are more expensive than others I have seen.
