Under the Volcano

Dazzling and translucent, agate is formed by volcanoes and water. The best are found in Brazil, where Cindy Hatch sources each of her gorgeous geodes. After carefully dyeing them to bring out their natural shades and colors, she turns them into uniquely stunning, one-of-a-kind bookends. Not only are they the aesthetic equal of Brighton Rock (Graham Greene), Shadows on the Rock (Willa Cather), and the Hot Rock (Donald E. Westlake), but they're heavy enough to hold them all up. Felt bottom to prevent furniture scratches. Handmade in South George, Utah, where Cindy first fell in love with beautiful rocks.

Due to the handmade nature of this item, each is unique and will vary.

Cindy Hatch

Cindy Hatch grew up in the Utah desert surrounded by the natural beauty of mountains, plateaus, and breathtaking red rock vistas. As a child, she loved spending summer vacations hiking and exploring in Zion National Park. Every summer she would add to her rock collection. She gave each rock a name and story, always curious about how they were formed. After 14 years of teaching elementary school science, Cindy became a full-time mom. Her beautiful bookends were born when she fell in love with Brazilian agate, buried in the earth for millions of years awaiting her artist's eye.
